	Thomas Telford - The Scottish Engineer The Scottish engineer Thomas Telford became famous for his bridges, roads and canals. He was a shepherd's son born in Eskdale, Dumfriesshire. 	About Teak Timber Teak wood is heavy, strong and long-lasting. It comes from a tall tree found in tropical countries, particularly India, Burma, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
